| Westgate Housing of Brattleboro Teen Development Worker & Resident Support Coordinator full-time Overall Responsibilities Work with the Westgate teen population on various areas of youth development. Work with the Westgate Tenants’ Association and the Community Services Coordinator to assist in implementing and coordinating programming, and recruiting/training volunteers for the Westgate community. Specific Responsibilities & Requirements * Work with teen population to develop activities, events, field trips, volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, etc. * Help teens meet the goals of any grants they have written * Assist teens with finding job/career opportunities, internships, summer camps and college/continuing education possibilities * Monitor and work with teens to fulfill community service requirements, with a focus of applying those hours to the Westgate Community * Work with local organizations to identify social services, and educational/recreational programs available to residents * Ability to work effectively with residents of all ages from young children to the elderly * Ability to develop and run direct-service programs for people of all ages * Help maintain and update databases which track volunteers and public relations contacts * Develop and foster positive personal relationships with tenants and help support positive interpersonal relationships within the Westgate community as a whole * Help create/maintain partnerships with service providers that result in a broad range of programming to Westgate residents, preferably on-site * Become involved in existing community activities * Work within existing policies and procedures, until such time as they are revised * Attend meetings of the Westgate’s Boards, Program Committee, etc. and lend support where appropriate * Build avenues of communication internally, including assisting with the monthly production of the WTA newsletter * Help build external avenues of communication including the writing of press releases and the positive promotion of Westgate in the general Brattleboro community Long Term Effects of the Project Will Include: * Improved, targeted and more effective Westgate programs * A greater sense of “community” and “neighborhood” at Westgate Apartments * Increase volunteerism at Westgate * A stronger Westgate teen community with expanded social, volunteer, educational and career opportunities Start and End Dates: September 24, 2007 – August 22, 2008 Benefits: $12,825 stipend, $4,725 education award upon completion, health insurance, childcare if state eligible, and numerous and diverse training opportunities.
